Product Review: CurLUXE Naturals

Product Review: CurLUXE Naturals

As a blogger who attends several events, you can imagine I receive a ton of swag bags and product samples here and there.  At one point, I had so many extra products I decided to host a giveaway because, seriously, how stuff can one girl have?

Fortunately, about two weeks ago, I stumbled upon a sample of the CurLUXE Naturals Twist and Define cream and immediately fell in love. Coincidentally, the brand contacted me earlier that day to collaborate for a product review.  At the time, I had not heard much of CurLUXE Naturals and was hesitant since I do not complete sponsored reviews often.

However, after trying the sample pack (and falling in love, might I add), I let CurLUXE Naturals know I would be thrilled to offer a review for my readers because, well…essentially, the product was REALLY good.  So…let’s dive right in so I can tell you how CurLUXE Naturals officially won me over.

Product Review: CurLUXENaturals

CurlLUXE Naturals

What I love about CurLUXE Naturals is the opportunity for you to purchase a sample box of 4 products, which allows customers to seriously test out their products before deciding to go all in and spend a bunch of money.  For just $20 you can get a shampoo, conditioner, and two styling creams or just mix and match.

Personally, I think that’s a steal!  How many times have you spent a ton of money on a brand just to be let down the next day? Several times I’m sure.  Here’s what I chose for my sample pack to review:

Jojoba Mint Moisture Rich Cleansing Tea w/Cocoa Butter and Rosemary

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycine soja oil (soybean), Carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil, Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil, Elaeis Guineensis, Helianthus annuus seed oil, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Hemp seed oil (cannabis sativa), Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Simmondsia Chinensis(Jojoba Oil), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Organic Cocoa Powder, Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Organic Dark Chocolate Extract, Mentha Arvensis(Peppermint Oil), Menthol, Vitamin E, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, Citric Acid

What I loved: As soon as I applied this cleansing tea/shampoo to my hair I was able to detangle immediately, which shocked me.  I actually brought my tangle teezer into the shower to help and when I finished shampooing, I realized I didn’t need the Teezer at all.

Since aloe vera leaf extract is the first ingredient, it helped to provide nice slip and moisture all in one swoop.  I also noticed the shampoo contained shea butter and avocado oil, both of which my 4b-4c strands love.

The shampoo does not lather a great deal, and I did notice my hair felt a little weighed down during the shampoo process but after rinsing my hair was back to normal and extremely moisturized.  If you prefer a rich lather this might not be for you but don’t be fooled to think that means it will not result in clean hair.

Manuka Honey & Avocado Conditioning NectarCurLUXE Naturals Mauka and Avocado Conditioning Nectar

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycine soja oil (soybean), Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil Manuka Honey, Agave Nectar, Cetyl Alcohol, Lauric Acid, Punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Pro-vitamin B5, and Fragrance

What I loved: Double duty action + CONSISTENCY! I’ve said this before, my hair loves thick and creamy products and this product definitely fit the bill.  The conditioning nectar was extremely fluffy and spread easily into my hair.  Although the sample size looks small, I still have half a jar left to use a second time.

The conditioning nectar can also be used as a deep conditioner, which is how I used it on my hair. After applying liberally, I sat under my Huetiful hair steamer for 20 minutes and rinsed with cool water. The double duty action is the conditioning nectar can also be used as a leave-in conditioner.

CurLUXE Twist and Define Cream

CurLUXE Naturals Twist and Define Cream

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Organic Creamed Honey, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Hemp Seed Butter, Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter)., Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cellulose Gum, Centrimonium Chloride, Amla Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Fragrance

What I loved: Seeing that organic creamed honey is the second ingredient, there’s no wonder why I loved this product for my twist-outs. I originally used the CurLUXE Naturals Twist and Define Cream on dry, 3-day-old hair.

Immediately upon applying this to sections of my dry hair I was able to finger comb through that section…something I’ve never been able to do with a twisting cream alone.  This product worked as a detangler and a twisting cream, which is why I fell in love with the sample pack.

DewLUXE Moisture Mist

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice, Hydrolyzed Keratin, MSM, Glycerin, Rosmarinus Officinalis Extract, Peppermint Leaf Extract, Yucca Leaf Extract, equisetum hyemale (horsetail) extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Bamboo Extract, Allantoin, Amla Fruit Extract, Biotin, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Hibiscus sabdariffa flower , Vitamin B5, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, Lavendula angustifolia Oil. may contain Menthol

What I Loved: I’ve only used it about 2-3 times so far, but I like that the mist is lightweight and doesn’t completely drench my hair.  Sometimes, you just need a little sprucing up for moisture.  What I loved the most is that it included hydrolyzed keratin, which is a great protein ingredient for strengthening the hair.

CurLUXE Naturals Top 5 Ingredients Breakdown:

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Extracted from the aloe plant, aloe vera can be used to soothe the skin and scalp, also helping to fight dandruff.  It is also a natural conditioning agent, moisturizer and has a low pH to help restore the proper pH balance to the hair.  For this reason, it works well to enhance your natural curl pattern.

Glycine soja oil (soybean): Soybean oil is a vegetable oil made from extracting the seeds of the soybean.  It has nutrients such as vitamin K and lipids that help to fight against breakage, split ends, and dryness.  The most obvious benefit of soybean oil is its ability to provide amazing and unparalleled shine, another reason it is a popular ingredient in the hair industry.  Soybean oil is not as greasy as other oils and is commonly used in shampoos and conditioners to keep the moisture balance and add softness.

Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil: Avocado oil is one of the FEW oils that can actually penetrate the hair shaft making it a dream for deep conditioning and fighting dry hair.  Vitamin rich and full of fatty acids it also helps to  heal damaged, weak hair.  As a very lightweight oil, avocado oils absorbs well into the skin and scalp and can be used as a pre-poo treatment.

Organic Creamed Honey & Manuka Honey: Using honey as part of your conditioning regimen should be a consistent thing if you suffer from extremely dry hair.  As a natural humectant, honey will work to draw moisture into your hair for long lasting softness as well.  According to OrganicFacts.net, manuka honey is also said to help with hair loss due to its strong antioxidant properties, germicidal and fungicidal properties.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate: Although not 100% natural, this ingredient is used as a hair conditioning agent and is one of the main contributors to help with the ease of detangling.
