A braidout on natural hair with perm rods is hands down my favorite natural hairstyle. I’ve been natural for almost 10 years now. And through those years I’ve tried thousands and thousands of styles. But, for some reason, I keep coming back to my old faithful braidout. There are a few reasons I love doing a braidout on natural hair and here’s why. But first, a quick tutorial on how I get some pretty good results with this style.

Why I Love Braidouts On Natural Hair
1. Almost anyone can braid hair.
The perm rod piece might be a little tricky for you if you are a new natural but almost everyone can braid/plat hair. This is not a french braid, a cornrow or a dutch braid – just a regular old plat with 3 sections of hair. It’s also a good style for anyone transitioning to natural hair.
2. Doesn’t take a long time.
I’ve tried this style in small sections and large sections. Larger sections work just fine and literally, takes me about 10 mins to install. Being natural is for sure a time commitment. This is the one style I can do quickly at night and I know it will turn out just fine in the morning.
3. Curl Definition!
As I’ve said I have been natural for about 10 years. Braidouts on natural hair give me the MOST curl definition compared to twist outs, which is shocking.
