5 Ways to Rock to Curly Clip Ins for Natural Hair

As more women transition to natural hair the options for styling are endless.  Aside from your traditional twist-outs, braid-outs and wash & gos, protective styling offer numerous opportunities for women to switch up their look from time to time without damaging their natural stands.   I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m a huge fan of curly wigs as seen by my Freetress Creta Girl Wig review and my Finger Comber Sof-Kinx review.  My latest addiction, however; are curly clip-ins by Kinky Curly Yaki.  If you don’t want the hassle of a wig but instead are looking for just a tad more volume clip ins are the way to go.  Here are 5 ways to rock curly clip ins for protective styling this season.

Curly Clip Ins – 5 Ideas for Protective styling

1. Goddess Twist

This style by Nae 2 Curly is simple and easy to achieve with clip-ins from any brand.  Since the only leave out area is a small portion at the top, this style is easy to install especially if you are new to clip ins.

2. Big Hair Don’t Care Twist Out

If you’ve been researching clip-in styles for a while, more than likely you’ve come across Maria Antoinette and her clip-in videos for Big Chop Hair.  This video gives easy step by step instructions on how to install clips in for a big voluminous curly look.  The main takeaway – twist clip-ins with your own natural hair.

3. Tapered Cut with Clip In Curls

Just because you have a tapered cut doesn’t mean your styling options are limited. This tutorial by Lisa walks you through exactly how she revitalized her tapered cut style by adding clip ins and setting them on perm rods for a fresh look.

4. Middle Part With Two Twists

The middle part with two twist style is perfect for all hair lengths but especially shorter hair when you want to achieve a longer style; however, your real hair doesn’t blend perfectly. YoursNaturally 11 blends her leave out with the two twists going backwards for a fun, casual curly look.

5. Short & Sweet

In part 3 of the installation series by The Natural Cole, she illustrates how her Kinky Curly Yaki Clip-ins also blends with her short hair as well.  Only using about 3-4 rows of clip-in hair, this extra volume gives her hair exactly what she needs without being over-powering.
